Call the Meeting to Order

J. Sims called a meeting of the Culture Committee of Shining Rock Classical Academy to order on Wednesday Mar 18, 2026 at 11:10 AM.

Approve Minutes

J. Sims made a motion to approve the minutes from NEST Meeting on 02-11-26.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Fundraising

Current NEST Funds

~$1,700

B.

Bingo Night

  • Raised $920
  • Do it again in the Fall?
  • Get more prize donations for kids?

C.

World's Finest Chocolate

  • Still in progress
  • Last day to turn in money is Friday, March 20
  • Next year, we will not be doing the World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser because it is so demanding
    • Not doing it means we need a different fundraiser that yields a large amount

D.

Book Fair

  • March 23-27
  • Rachel is chaperoning the HS field trip during that time
  • Two HS volunteers coming on Saturday to help Rachel set up
  • Rachel's mother and Anita will cover each opening
  • Josh will cover each closing
  • We have someone for all-day Wednesday
  • Lending library and pencils will be available free of charge
  • Josh to send out ParentSquare notifications
    • To teachers for classroom signups
    • To parents for volunteer signups

  • Taco bar on May 21?
    • Can get bulk tortillas from Papas & Beer
  • Soft drinks with koozies
    • During actual teacher appreciation week, hand out these and a card reminder of taco bar day?

Field Day

  • In May
  • Popsicles?
    • Snowcones are too slow

NEST President

  • Rachel McFalls will be stepping down from full NEST president responsibilities by August
  • She is willing to remain to fulfill some of the role, but wants someone to step up, particularly in the role of treasurer
