Call the Meeting to Order
J. Sims called a meeting of the Culture Committee of Shining Rock Classical Academy to order on Thursday Nov 20, 2025 at 11:05 AM.

Approve Minutes
J. Sims made a motion to approve the minutes from NEST Meeting on 10-16-25.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.
II. Fundraising

Current NEST Funds

Bingo
- Doors open at 5:00 PM on February 27
- ~$400 in gift cards and vouchers donated to be prizes
- Maggie Valley Fairgrounds to volunteer their bingo machine and operator
- Prices TBD
- Rachel to try to get a food truck
- Hot chocolate?
- Need more folding tables
III. Needs
A.
Weekly Volunteer Day
- Going well, getting enough volunteers and work for them to do
- Will continue to improve communication via ParentSquare
- Next is December 3rd
B.
ParentSquare Access
- Josh and Rachel both have the ability to send notifications on ParentSquare now
- Josh plans to send reminders
- About NEST volunteer Wednesdays on Mondays
- About monthly NEST meeting on the prior Monday and on the day before
- Rachel to send notifications on other matters
IV. Celebrations
A.
Christmas Parade
- December 1
- Prepping on November 29th?
- Theme is Santa's Appalachian Toy Workshop
- Main St, Waynesville
- Rachel to ask Mr. Morgan for pencils to giveaway
- Parents can walk along with
- One teacher to ride along
- Exact procedure TBD and will be communicated ASAP
- On that note, Waynesville has historically been slow to announce lineup

Hot Chocolate
- December 18
- NEST to help distribute hot chocolate to classrooms
- Will try to get cups & hot chocolate mix donated
- NEST has Igloo containers for warm water
- Ask Ben Weimar if this complies with federal lunch program requirements

NEST President
- Rachel intends to remain through May
- Still looking for successor
- Ideal situation is to onboard successor ASAP
