Call the Meeting to Order
J. Sims called a meeting of the Culture Committee of Shining Rock Classical Academy to order on Thursday Sep 25, 2025 at 11:09 AM.

Approve Minutes
J. Sims made a motion to approve the minutes from NEST Meeting on 08-14-25.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
II. Fundraising

Current NEST Funds

Book Fair
- $11,560 in sales from book fair last week
- That's expected to translate to about $3,000 scholastic dollars
- Record volunteer turnout (with regard to the last 5 years) - 24 unique volunteers
- Great amount of donations from SRCA families for kids who did not have sufficient money to buy from book fair themselves
C.
Yard Sale
- 3 food trucks signed up
- Each paid $50
- Don´t yet have an decided number of spot signups
- October 18, 8 AM - 1 PM
D.
Poinsettia Sale
- Vendor to provide order forms
- Orders before Thanksgiving break
- Deliveries after Thanksgiving break
- Very little effort for NEST to coordinate and handle the delivery of the poinsettia
III. Needs
A.
Post hole digging for sun shades
- Joshua Sims has an auger lent from the Asheville Tool Library until 10 AM on Saturday (9/27)
- Joshua to talk with Benjamin Weimar about where to dig
- Still seeking volunteers to do the work today or Friday
B.
NEST President
- Still seeking a NEST President replacement for Rachel McFalls
- Rachel hopes to step down by January 2026
- Applicants welcome, just talk with Rachel and Josh (Nest@shiningrock.org and jsims@shiningrock.org)!
C.
Middle school books
- We have plenty of K-5 books, thank you to those who donated!
- Still lacking books for grades 6-8
D.
Biweekly Volunteer Day
- TBD
- Every other Wednesday, volunteers can come in and staff can have something ready for them to help with
