Call the Meeting to Order
J. Sims called a meeting of the Culture Committee of Shining Rock Classical Academy to order on Thursday Aug 14, 2025 at 11:05 AM.

Approve Minutes
J. Sims made a motion to approve the minutes from NEST Meeting on 04-10-25.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

- Fundraising (book fair, Worldś Finest Chocolate, etc.)
- Celebrations (snow cones and popcorn at dances, organizing parade float, etc.)
- Helping at literacy nights
- Lending library
III. Fundraising

Current NEST Funds

Book Fair
- September 15th - 19th
- Rachel McFalls will not be available for book fair on September 15th
- For children that do not have funds
- NEST has, in the past, covered cost of books
- A donation box is available for spare change
- Lending library is available for kids that do not have a book

Trivia Night
- TBD
- At an eatery outside of campus?
- How does this interface with enrollment in the federally-assisted school nutrition program?
- Teams pay to participate and winning team takes 50% of the winnings?

Yard Sale
- Saturday, October 18th
- $10 to reserve a spot to set up shop in the parking lot
- Chalk to designate reserved spots?

Staff Needs
Staff does not often tell us what they need, and when they do it tends to be somewhat short notice

Book Donations for Lending Libraries

Post Hole Digging for Sun Shades
- Primarily, we need an augur to facilitate digging 6' wide by 4' deep holes for the sun shade posts
- Volunteer laborers also welcome; we already have some who are available to help

NEST president for 2026
- Rachel McFalls is planning to step down as NEST president by January 2026
- Anyone interested in becoming the NEST president should reach out!
