Academic Achievement Dashboard Review
The committee discussed the Academic Dashboard for the month of April. The chronic absenteeism rate has increased from 8% in March to 10% in April and the school is keeping close track of student attendance. Incidents of discipline continue to be very low. In Kindergarten enrollment is strong, with 53 out of 54 intent to enroll forms submitted for the 2019-2020 kindergarten class.
The committee discussed ANet results. Overall, the results are very strong, with all grades significantly outperforming network averages. Jess provided the committee with a spotlight on the 3rd grade to support their work in the lead up to the MCAS. She has been reteaching key standards to students who would benefit from extra support, while teachers are providing exit tickets to students and tracking their progress on a daily basis.
Based on current ANet results, Jess and Wendy are projecting that fewer 3rd grade students this year are on track to "meet" or "exceed" expectations on the MCAS. Data shows that students struggled most on multi-step technology-enhanced questions, so Wendy is doing push-in lessons three times per week to provide additional support around these types of questions.
