September Achievement & Culture Dashboard
- Jess presented the new Achievement and Culture Dashboard summarizing key data on enrollment, attendance, discipline, and academics. All metrics were at or above targets. The group agreed to focus the next meeting on a deeper MCAS review, due to time constraints.
- Amneris suggested adding upcoming assessment dates to the dashboard. Jess noted she would incorporate this update.
- The group reviewed the early-elementary assessment tools (M-Class, STEP, and MAP) and discussed aligning terminology used to describe performance levels.
- Jess presented assessment data showing strong early-grade performance, gains in third grade, and social-emotional challenges in kindergarten. The school outperformed peer schools in math and reading, and Bill emphasized reviewing results in context.
- Jess provided an update on the alumni support program, highlighting strong engagement, a successful first event, and upcoming efforts to support high school readiness and expand community connections.
B.
MCAS Report
- Jess presented an analysis of MCAS results, highlighting strong performance in grades four–five, improvement in grades six through seven, and areas for growth in grade three.
- Student growth percentiles reflected high growth in grade four and mid-to-high growth across other grades.
- LaShawna asked about the notable increase from grade four to grade five, and Jess explained it reflected cohort-specific factors, including a strong student group, an experienced fourth-grade team, and a teacher who advanced with the class to support continuity.
- The board discussed examining subgroup performance gaps, with LaShawna emphasizing the importance of understanding individual student factors. Bill recommended simplifying future data presentations to focus on subgroup results and planned responses.
