Call the Meeting to Order

A. Allen-Thames called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee of Sankofa Montessori to order on Wednesday Dec 13, 2023 at 7:13 PM.

Approve Minutes

E. Moore made a motion to approve the minutes from October Meeting October Academic Committee Meeting on 10-18-23.
A. Allen-Thames seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Academic Excellence

A.

Dashboard Planning

No updates on dashboard planning.  Will plan to continue with current Excel spreadsheet method.  

B.

Leadership Team’s Corner

Enrollment:  FTE 88, no new enrollment in December

11 K applications, 0 1st applications, 0 2nd applications

Utilizing AdBorg- a service to track site visits, ads and websites, analytics, and shadow dates

Plans for the staff to advertise within the local community with door hangers and tags, canvasing to daycares and businesses to help with recruitment

 

Staff:  One staff member (teacher) on probation for unprofessionalism; one assistant leaving with replacement coming on January 2.  Additions:  1 Special Ed teacher and 1 Behavioral interventionist.  No school counselor this school year.  

 

Suspensions: (Out of school):  3 K, 7 1st, 0 2nd

                       (In school):  2 K, 1 1st, 0 2nd

 

Expulsion:  One from 1st grade, child on one year expulsion after hearing

 

School testing:  Jan 8-12  MAP Reading   and Jan 15-19 MAP Math will occur

No reporting to state until year 3, when 3rd grade students will take the GA milestones (NWEA)

 

Other:  Holiday party was a success and teachers/staff shared wins about classrooms and learning in the school

Discussion of Special Education

Psycho-educational testing:  No testing in 1 1/2 weeks, but resuming testing in the new 2024 year.
