Discussion: BoT Volunteer Event Recap and Future events

Given the need for CoT to focus on Board member recruitment (nominations due before full April BoT meeting and the Board Retreat on May 18, 2024, CoT will postpone the late April Volunteer event.

B.

Discussion: Board Retreat Planning

Board retreat will take place Saturday, May 18, 2024. Time of event will be confirmed through a doodle poll with full Board. Topic of Board retreat will shift from learning about Montessori education methods and philosophies, to succession planning and Board goals for the upcoming year. Need to finalize a location for the retreat. Will work closely with the Executive Committee to prepare for both topics.

Board recruitment planning

A Board consisting of between 15-16 Trustees was discussed as the target membership. One Trustee will have their term end on June 30, 2024. Also, historically, the BoT loses one Trustee due to changing commitments each year. Given this, the CoT will be looking to nominate 4 new Trustees and 1 new Teacher Trustee.

Currently, we have interested prospective candidates who are Montessorians, school administration, alumni, and parents. Discussed the need for Trustees that have adjacent or direct expertise related to larger projects the school is undertaking, such as the grounds redesign project.

Will advertise in the Current, PA Facebook and RVCS Facebook. Updated short Trustee advertisement to be completed by March 18.  Need add an additional CoT meeting on 4/4 at 6pm to go over prospective candidate applications.
