Mission Statement: Flex High School of Michigan recovers students who have dropped out or are in danger of dropping out of high school. We enroll students into a resource center, mentor, teach, and prepare them for graduation and college and career readiness.

It was recommended that the Board of Directors adopt, as presented, and approve the minutes of the July 14, 2026, Annual Organizational Meeting of the Board of Directors of Flex High School of Michigan.

School Leader
Mr. Muennix shared on Staffing updates including community liaison hiring is underway, school social worker contracting delayed with temporary remote services, Burton SRT role temporarily covered, ELA vacancy due to transfer toward Special Education outside district. He also shared on CTE conferences attended to enrich curriculum integration.
Mr. Muennix also shared Flex High Michigan achieved trauma resiliency organization certification. Professional Development focused on student engagement, small-group instruction, PBIS continuation, and AI tools for instructional support.
Mr. Muennix shared on Gas Maker Tournament in downtown Flint. He added a partnership with a community org distributing hygiene items to draw engagement and mentioned LLAC staff was present at the event (Mr. Scott Nakon and others). Mr. Muennix also spoke about a Job Fest: back-to-school outreach with tent presence and was informal with current students/parents.
Mr. Muennix shared on the attendance in July at 50–60% which is typical for summer and enrollment is at 215. July module completions were 158, with goal setting to increase student credit success. He also shared on graduation ceremonies moving to one annual commencement with a target of 50 students walking. So far 15 students have already been identified.

Committee Updates, as needed
Academic Excellence- Ms. Lepine shared Core Learning Exchange purchased to deliver CTE online and awaiting state curriculum approval, then CMU approval. She also mentioned a need for certified teachers for Culinary and Business. Ms. Lepine shared the school is reapplying for approval of Business and Culinary in Flint and Burton.
Lastly, Ms. Lepine shared she is awaiting CMU growth report in hopes that Special Education is functioning well.
Finance- Mr. Clark stated he met with the Committee and reviewed implications of new weighted FTE calculations, which indicates break-even or budget improvement, potential for more student funding.
Wanda requested visual representation of student counts across two impact periods for budget modeling.
Governance- Ms. Brown shared BoardOnTrack will be housing committee documents. Mr. Holmes uploaded agendas, minutes, annual calendar, & job description and is accessible.
Ms. Brown spoke on goals for the committee.
1. Create board member onboarding package, work with committees to finalize job descriptions and annual calendars, and ensure documents are stored in BoardOnTrack.
2. Policy review: Fall (Oct–Nov) and Spring (Feb–Mar) were added to governance business calendar.
Ms. Brown also shared the Honorary diploma policy discussed.

Mr. Cherry shared on the financials dashboard as of June 30, 2026. He also shared the Fund balance currently negative but projected positive at year-end per budget after support and state aid, and the Audit engagement is underway with Lewis & Knopf, with completion mid–late October to meet the November 2nd state deadline.
