ARCHITECTS AGENDA

  • The meeting focused on reviewing and discussing guiding principles for a school facility expansion project.
  • The team, led by Jeff Davis from Johnson Roberts, presented aspirations and fears discussed in a previous meeting, followed by proposed guiding principles for both the design process and facility requirements.
  • Key discussions included the scope of community input: The team  agreed to focus on school-based stakeholders including students, families, and staff.
  •  Kendra suggested targeted questions rather than open-ended community engagement, and the importance of making all staff spaces universally accessible.
  • The team agreed to incorporate multifunctional spaces into the guiding principles.
  •  The group also discussed the project timeline, with O'Shane inquiring about when initial design concepts would be available for fundraising purposes.

Jeff Davis explained that after a 6-month process, they would have a draft in the last month (month 5), with educational programming being the next key deliverable to be discussed in upcoming meetings held every other week. The team agreed to focus first on establishing the educational program through a spreadsheet outlining spaces and requirements before moving to floor plan options and development of a preferred option with cost estimates.

  • The next meeting is scheduled to be on the first Monday, June 1st at 3:00pm, in-person.
