Academic Data Update
- Grounded in our Annual Priorities
- What the system for intervention is and shared some
- How do we create Tier 2 intervention groups - flow chart graphics on our specific process for determining interventions was shared and discussed for both literacy and math
- 2 important sets of data that measure different things: Foundation reading skills and comprehension
- Effective and research based suite of assessment - DIBEL - highly rate and approved by DESE
- Question about (What did Diana ask?)
- Academic leadership is trying to teach teachers how to do this
- Shared graphics showing Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) disaggregation for literacy and math (separately).
- Question about the increase in Tier 2? from Grade 4 to Grade 5 - summary of the response about 5th grade and what they are doing
- Update on November
- Gave progress monitoring using DIBELs assessment and adjusted their Tier 2 intervention groups as needed based on the updated data. Teachers are tracking the frequency, the duration, the strategies.
- Question about the size of the groupings - average range is 3-6 students per group
- Looked at a 2nd Grade literacy example that has already surpassed their goal as of November and another student that began the year well below grade level - making progress in intervention.
- Looked at an example of math intervention and progress monitoring - teachers are using pre- and post- assessments for each grouping to measure student progress
- What's Coming Up?
- Teachers will continue to flex intervention groupings as needed
- Our midyear benchmark assessment time is coming up - math is next week; literacy will be post-break in January 2026.
