II. Academic Excellence

A.

Discipline Data

Alistair - How  many students recorded as in trouble more than once - 41 students
23 had 1; 7 had 2; 3 had 3; 4 had 2; 1 students had 7; 1 student had 8.

B.

Virtual Learning Update

What wrap around services can we offer and what interventions are we offering?
How to implement those?

C.

Data Update

I Ready Diagnostic Testing:
What is it? 1- all students given the diagnostic (similar to MAPP); virtual - really tells what the gaps are for students. Offers personalized instruction for students. Some gaps exist - students who missed a quarter of the year last year and may not be doing well under virtual environment might fall further behind.

Personalized instruction: addressing gaps based on student scores.
How well did student groups meet improvement targets?
Demographic data:
Some racial gaps exist as do gender gaps in reading. The measures don't show growth (SPED students have larger growth numbers)
Areas of improvement - reading
Racial disparities across grade levels - clear it's school wide -
ELA - strength is phonics
Equity - socioeconomics is a factor -

Currently in talks with teachers - reading is hard in virtual learning - k-2 specifically

academic -
SEL -
Engagement -
Target intervention - for students falling behind; and for student well being

MYP - additional data sessions - working on interdisciplinary conversations; science and social studies teachers working on lessons together. conferences with students
social life in MYP - struggling with that so in Dec groups will meet in person at the school to engage and talk about coping lower socioeconomic students are struggling especially

D.

IB Update

Mr Pavone to discuss IB: efficacy survey - to decide how to coach teachers on getting the certifications - half of teachers do not have IB training - concept (macro level) curricula - teacher training on teaching conceptual understandings - more in MYP need more training on the IB program. Will do the survey again at the end of the year. Goal is to have PYP trained before the evaluation in the fall of 2021 - goal is to get more teachers trained
