Scholarship Prep - South Bay Campus Update
Principal Allison Vann and an 8th-grade student shared the latest happenings at our South Bay, "The Bay," campus. Teachers and scholars are preparing for the upcoming CAASPP, ensuring students are comfortable with the online platform to minimize any issues. Ms. Joseph provides engaging whole-class instruction and small-group interventions to support student success. Principal Vann leads LPAC testing to track student growth. Coach Smart has started preparing students for the physical fitness test, focusing on building strength and health. The Bay recently hosted its semester awards, recognizing students for their hard work and dedication. They are excited for the annual Black History Month performance on February 28th. South Bay’s partnership continues with the Maritime Youth Leadership Ambassador Program, where students learn about marine biology and take an overnight trip to Catalina Island. February also featured the campus's first Valentine Family Breakfast, followed by the annual Middle School Dance, where students celebrated with friends. Lastly, they celebrated School Counselor Week to honor Mr. Castillo for his outstanding dedication to the students and staff.

Organization Update
Executive Director, Jason Watts, provided the organization update and provided information about schools that are opening up in the fall and grant updates.
Scholarship Prep San Bernardino: The Planning Commission hearing and vote for the conditional use permit to increase student occupancy from 200 to over 500 will take place on February 26th. We hope to have positive news to share at the next board meeting.
Scholarship Prep Riverside: The campus is undergoing construction, and future principal Yesenia is working hard on community engagement and recruitment efforts. We are partnering with Tourist Consulting, who helped canvas the Riverside area for the conditional use permit application process. They will continue to support both Riverside and Ontario/Upland areas.
Silicon Schools Fund Grant: Scholarship Prep Riverside has been awarded a $600,000 grant over five years to support the school launch in the Inland Empire, a significant boost for our efforts in the Riverside community.
Special Education Grant: Thanks to the work of our Special Education team, we received an $18,004.66 grant from the LAUSD SELPA for the South Bay campus, which will support our program and students.
Charter School Growth Fund: We are still engaged with this entity, which supports school launches and growth. They will visit our campuses soon for in-person evaluations.
New Home Office: Our new office in Santa Ana is now operational. Although we are still unpacking, the move places us closer to the communities we serve and partners in the area, with the added benefit of being near coffee shops and food locales.
