BOARD NOMINATION PROCESS

Notice of accepting applications for the School Board 2026

 

Board Election Policies outline the process for an unexpired term or vacancy on the school board.  

 

The process is as follows:


 April 1st Application Opens:

  1. Members of the public who reside in the Global Academy of South Carolina School District are eligible to apply for the board seat. Qualifications are based on state law including, the applicant may not be a convicted felon, they must be eligible - and registered to - vote and they may not be a Global Academy of South Carolina District employee.
  2. Interested candidates should apply by 5 p.m. by April 30th. To be considered for review, please fill out the online NOMINATION FORM to apply. 
  3. The board reserves the right to extend the application process if the candidate pool is deemed insufficient.

April 30th. – Application Closes:

All completed applications due by 5 p.m. in April. 30th.

 

 May. 1-14 Board Reviews Applications:

The board will call a special meeting for review of applications. If needed, interviews will be conducted in an executive session. The appointed member board will vote in open session to approve the selection of a new board member.

 

May 15th, 2026 - Board Election Date:

If an applicant was approved during the review of applications, the newly selected member will serve until the next General Election in 2027 and will then have to file to run in the election so the public can affirm their seat.

  • Board Meeting : October 21, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. CANCELLED
  • Board Meeting : November 18, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. CANCELLED 
  • Board Meeting : December 16, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. Rescheduled  December 8, 2025 at 4:30 P.M.
  • Board Meeting : January 20, 2026 at 4:30 P.M. (VIRTUAL MEETING)
  • Board Meeting : February 17, 2026 at 4:00 P.M.
  • Board Meeting : March 17, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. Rescheduled March 31, 2026 at 4:00 P.M.
  • Board Meeting : April 21, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. ( Virtual ) 
  • Board Meeting : May 19, 2026 at 4:00 P.M.
  • Board Meeting : June 23, 2026 at 4:00 P.M.
