Addressing the Challenges of the decline:
  1. Teacher turnover was mentioned, teacher surveys regarding professional development, and what they would like to see more of, creation of the suggestion box, more observations,
  2. Administration turnover - specificity of roles in
  3.  Building a curriculum - building a foundation, identifying student earlier based on LEAP scores and 8th grade transcripts, ACT prep for identified students, common assessments for all students, co planning - teacher in a specified subject are able to plan together, write assessments together, common writing process (AECCC),
  4. :Lack of Data usage - MAPs assessment, Study Island, Common Assessment data, Mock ACT data,
  5. Proposal - Saturday detention (remediation, enrichment and enhancement); ACT prep program in the Spring. EOC Prep in the Spring.
  6. Saturday tutoring, Tulane student tutors, Entergy Partnership, Individual academic conversation with students, pre-DP schedule - that is a course load that provide success in the IBDP. Current students tutoring junior students in the building. Attendance recoevery - remediation, writing, and EOC review, online practice assessments.
Target Remediation
  1. EOC
    1. The EOC assessment is desiogned differently thant he ACT. Thus the Remediation Specialist pushes intot the classroom. The RS target the student that scored closest to the next level. the teacher focuses more time on the lower end students. Special Education teachers also assist with remediation in the classroom. The SpEd teacher pushes into the classroom. there are special circumstances for SpEd stuentss who fail the EOC x2.
    2. The Plan/Explore - those students who scored between 15-19, the Remediation Specialist will target those students to a 20+ on the ACT. Teachers remediate to push students to 18+. the Princetom Review provided an additional Mock ACT this Fall. All Mock ACTs are taken under ACT requirements and conditions. Princeton is providing additional reports.
    3. Double Block Algebra 1 students: to be effective student must touch algebra daily. Not all students are taking algebra daily.
  2. ACT
    1. Mock ACT used to identify students who are falling behaind. the scores and skillset are being identified in the Mock ACT. We should see imperovment in the scorres.
    2. MAP testing identify students entering tier 2 & 3 RTI in August 2016.
    3. Study Island used for extra practice. a student cannot progress until they have achieved mastery. A student can do study island virtually wherever they have internet access. it tracks a student's progress and become more rigorous as they continue.
