Executive Director's Monthly Report
Literacy Leaders award ceremony this morning, Hands on Atlanta visit. Strategic plan updates, enrollment updates, school calendar updates.
APS is starting on Friday, August 1. Proposal here is a Tuesday start date, July 29. Next 4 years with the same pattern will be back to August start dates. 97% of staff were in favor of the week long breaks in October and February. Idea is to have a consistent pattern year over year for start dates. Starting slightly earlier than APS allows us to recruit better, especially economically disadvantaged families. School days the week after Memorial Day often have very low attendance - lost instructional days and lost funding.
