II. Educational Excellence

A.

2021-2022 School Calendar

  •  Chuck Meadows presented a draft calendar for the 2021-2022 school year, which features week-long breaks in October and February and 180 instructional days
  • The Committee discussed and made recommendations; the draft calendar will be shared with stakeholders. Any feedback will be sent directly to Chuck.
  • The Committee will review feedback and make recommendation to the Full board at the March meeting

B.

HOWL Hybrid Transition Update

C.

Outreach/Recruitment - 2021-2022 Application/Lottery

  • Direct mailing (flyers) planned for Martin Street Plaza and Trestletree Villages Apartments
  • may include QR code linking to new promotional video and/or application

D.

2022 Lottery Logistics/Considerations

  • Jarod Apperson joined the Committee meeting to discuss considerations for the 2022 lottery (under new charter term), including:
    • conversion rate for Zone 2/3 applicants that are offered admission; historical data from other schools suggests ~50% conversion rate; we can become more precise over time as we gather data from each round under the new lottery structure
    • very short window between application closing and lottery being run that does not allow much time for analysis, recommendation, and ultimate board vote (we will need to consider and plan strategically moving into next school year)
    • SchoolMint logistics (e.g., which party will be responsible for coding the randomly selected Z2/3 applicants, etc.)

E.

Winter 2021 MAP Data

  • Nancy Lamb presented data from the Winter MAP administration
  • Growth has slowed (based on pre-COVID norms), particularly for Math
  • test administration has not been consistent (2nd-8th entirely online; K-1st had in person and virtual options)

III. Closing Items

Adjourn Meeting

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 6:39 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,
