Call the Meeting to Order

Hanah Goldberg called a meeting of the Educational Excellence Committee of Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School to order on Thursday Jan 14, 2021 at 5:03 PM.

Approve Minutes

Carla Wells made a motion to approve the minutes from Educational Excellence Committee Meeting on 12-10-20.
Jason Rhodes seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Educational Excellence

A.

2021-2022 School Calendar

  • Committee will discuss proposed calendar during February 2021 EE meeting.
  • Proposed calendar will be shared with broader school community (feedback will be directed to Chuck and shared at March EE meeting)
  • Full board vote at March meeting

HOWL Hybrid Transition Update

Chuck Meadows provided an update on the transition to HOWL III/Hybrid

C.

Attendance Report

It has proven difficult to get attendance data in usable form. Chuck Meadows to work with Student Information Specialists to develop reports to share with Committee and Board.

D.

2021 Legislative Session Update

Hanah Goldberg provided a brief update on state budget and legislative items, including the recently announced $1,000 bonuses for school staff and proposed legislation related to: a) paid leave for state employees; b) school vouchers.

E.

Lottery/Recruitment Update

  • Application for 2021-2022 school year is open
  • Virtual outreach continues; discussed possibility of distributing flyers/postcards to Trestletree Village and Martin Street Plaza
  • APS has indicated we may be able to adopt proposed changes to lottery structure during the upcoming lottery (March). Chuck Meadows to confirm with APS and GaDoE as needed.
