Call the Meeting to Order

N. LeBlanc called a meeting of the Governance Committee of The Anchor School to order on Wednesday Jan 15, 2025 at 8:06 PM.

C.

Approve Minutes

N. LeBlanc made a motion to approve the minutes from Governance Committee Meeting on 11-06-24.
J. Burton seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Governance

A.

Policy Tracker Review

  • Agreed to remove number system column
  • Add more categories/columns: 
    • Committees who need to review policy(Academic (AC), Governance (GC), Finance (FC), Health & Safety (Operations, GC))
    • Trigger date when the next review (with color conditioning)
  • Add hyperlinks to policies 

B.

CSP Enrollment Policy Updates

  • Governance committee agrees with the edits to the CSP Enrollment Policy by Dr. Pinto-Taylor and will bring this to the board for formal vote in January

C.

Executive Director Report

  • Received 4 findings from SCSC, Dr. Pinto-Taylor has plans to resolve and appeal these findings  
  • Planning on interviewing marketing agencies but will grass root social media in the meantime until the new school year
  • Received $100k grant from Charter School Growth Fund

D.

CAP update

  • Need to correct 3 findings and 1 adverse practice in the January board meeting to submit corrective action by mid February

E.

Review draft Academic Calendar for SY25-26

  • Parents feedback is to be as close aligned with DeKalb county school calendar so changes have been align but not exact
  • First day of school is August 11th 
  • Added grading day on Dec. 19th for teachers
  • January 6-8th are half days to get students back acclimated into school schedule
  • Last day of school is June 12th
  • Half day every Friday
    • Dr. Pinto-Taylor's goal is to get strong partnership with the YMCA to accommodate half day Fridays and overall after school care 
  • Amber to look into partnership with YMCA & DREW to see if there are programming we can imitate 

III. Other Business

A.

Review Limited Support Proposal from 21Cobalt

  • Point of Information: We are interested in continuing our relationship with 21Cobalt. We will bring this to the board in January to formally vote on continuing the contract

B.

Finalize the PDP

  • Formally recognized Dr. Pinto-Taylor for his exceptional growth and successful completion of key leadership goals in Fall 2024
