II. Academic Achievement

A.

Academic Data Review

Quarter 1 grades went out and new 8th grade data visuals will be available to share out at next board meeting. ELA hasn't been added yet and will be updated soon. The assessment for ELA and math should be underway and ready to be administered in late October. This assessment will be in its 2nd year running, and it's closely aligned with school milestones. It's a great opportunity for students to be exposed to assessments similar to state milestone assessments. Teachers will be able to read the data and look at the areas where students might need support.

B.

Annual Assessment Calendar

C.

Unified Literacy Plan

III. Academic Monitoring Updates

A.

Enrollment Dates & Policy

The application has launched, and applications have already been received. Enrollment season is underway and will use a lottery system, but it won't be weighted.

B.

SCSC Monitoring

Action item: email SCSC about the appropriate measures for reporting & adding an enrollment partner

Next Monday—on track to submit monitoring items

Data collection and submissions are on track

No update for CPI but working on it

Already submitted CLIP in August

C.

Pre-Conference LKES

LKES meeting was a success, but the team was having a hard time with technical issues during the submission of items. Dr. PT is documenting all portal deliverables to ensure double tracking.

Action item: portal technical assistance and support are needed.

In November, we can pass along any academic items to Jaz and Shanice for portal processing.

IV. Academic Policy Items

A.

TAS Teacher Pathway Framework

TAS staff presentations will be held to learn how to apply by the end of October, and we will see about statements of intent for applying for the teacher pathway process.

B.

Strategic Plan

Proposals will be released to the Board, and finalists will be released in November for strategic planning coordination to begin.

Received 4 proposals & application closes Friday.

C.

Unified District Literacy Plan - Draft

The State asked us to produce a unified district literacy plan. The Board has to adopt a literacy plan and answer template questions based on what the Board is already executing for the school year. The plan can be revised over time and evaluated accordingly. Since approval has to be in November, Dr. PT is being diligent about addressing what the plan needs and what the Board and TAS staff have worked to establish. The plan will be voted on in November. The academic committee can give probing questions or input to strengthen the plan if needed by the next committee meeting in November. We will discuss the plan as a group and submit to the Board for voting.

D.

Curriculum Updates

Materials have been purchased, and implementation is underway. Questions are being asked about semester two items, but all purchases are cleared.

V. Closing Items

A.

Miscellaneous

Kim proposed if anyone has ideas around executive director reporting metrics and how the new iteration of the board meeting looks and how we can either continue with standard reporting or filter through new ideas. The template will remain the same every time, with updated information.

The committee is thinking about new partnerships that can pair with the outreach committee and what would be useful for TAS students.

Action item: plugging in Ms. Whitfield and others to discuss outreach opportunities

Curtis and Kim will connect with various contacts they have to further advance outreach opportunities.

B.

Adjourn Meeting

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 7:37 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,
K. Sargeant
