Call the Meeting to Order

S. Stewart called a meeting of the board of directors of The Anchor School to order on Wednesday Aug 26, 2026 at 7:04 PM.

Approve Minutes

J. Burton made a motion to approve the minutes from Board of Directors Meeting on 06-24-26.
S. Stewart seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Executive Director Report

A.

ED Report - Presentation

S. Kollu arrived at 7:07 PM.

J. Pinto Taylor presented ED Report:

  • New Addition: Executive Summary section provides an update from the Directors Team
  • K. Griffith (TAS Staff) presented the Operational Updates for August

III. Academic Committee

A.

Academic Data Review

  • J. Pinto Taylor covered this agenda item primarily in the 
  • J. Pinto Taylor and team to provide an updated TAS Dashboard for the board to keep track of changes in scholar performance

B.

Annual Assessment Calendar

  • J. Pinto Taylor shared MAP is underway and the scholars are on track timeline-wise.

Enrollment Updates

  • J. Pinto Taylor and TAS team is working to identify feeder schools

SCSC Renewal

  • J. Pinto Taylor to monitor consistent improvement on performance trends

Pre-Conference LKES

  • J. Pinto Taylor shared the process for LKEs review with the general board

Item for Information: TAS Strategic Plan RFP

  • RFP from community members who are interested in TAS to provide ideas for strategic planning.
  • J. Pinot Taylor to share the request broadly via TAS website announcement this week.
    • The goal is to facilitate charting plans for the TAS next 5 years.
    • Board to provide input on the plans in January during board retreat.

IV. Community Engagement and PTO Updates (Ad-hoc)

A.

PTO Updates

  • J. Pinto Taylor PTO is active, meeting regularly, committees are established for communication, operations, and fundraising items.
  • K. Griffith shared PTO dues are now required from parents for membership
    • There are incentives being put in place for parents to join and share benefits with their scholars.

Action Item

  • K. Griffith to share link for board and staff to join PTO meetings

V. Finance Committee

A.

New Audit Requirements

  • M. Feltz (21 Cobalt) presented about new DOAA financial requirements/certifications:
    • Audit Readiness
    • Financial Obligations
    • Foreign Funding Transparency 
    • Board to oversee that these certifications are complete.

B.

Financial Audit Update

  • T. Winston shared the audit is in place and underway. Projected to meet required deadlines.

C.

Line of Credit Update

  • T. Winston shared that we have LOC is operating exactly as expected (to increase cash on hand). Team plans to pay off LOC so that it's available for the next fiscal year.

VI. Governance Committee

A.

Charter Contract Review

  • J. Burton shared the team will need to begin preparing as charter renewal is approaching.
    • There will be proper training for new board members around the importance of this.

B.

SCSC Monitoring Portal Opens/Updates for SY26-27

  • J. Pinto Taylor shard all deadlines for July 31st have been met and are on track to meet the August deadline as well
  • Updated Conflict of Interest agreements need to be signed by the full board (new and returning board members alike)

C.

Adopt Board Training Calendar

  • J. Burton shared the cadence of training to be completed by the full board. The next October training calendar invite has been shared. January date/invite is pending.

D.

New Board Member Vote

S. Stewart made a motion to approve T. Butts join TAS Board in the Governance Committee.
T. Winston seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.
S. Stewart made a motion to approve C. Johnson join TAS Board in the Academic Committee.
A. Pressey seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.
S. Stewart made a motion to approve M. McCauley to join the TAS Board in Academic Committee.
K. Sargeant seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.
S. Stewart made a motion to approve M. Ziegler to join TAS Board in the Governance Committee.
T. Winston seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

VII. Public Comment

A.

Request

  • M. Wingfield would like to see a blurb about each board member to learn how they bring gifts/talents to the TAS community and work together to serve.
  • K. Griffith would like clarity on what the board is looking for from the administration in this monthly meeting going forward.
    • T. Winston favored the ED Report presentation and invited administration to 
    • K. Sargent is interested in the storytelling
