The Memphis Scholars Board of Directors meets as a full board five times a year in the months of November, January, March, May, and June. Board meetings typically take place on the second Tuesday of the above-listed months (unless otherwise posted) at 1:00 pm Central Time. Non-trustees are invited to attend as observers.  If you would like to speak at a Memphis Scholars Board of Directors meeting you must email (leadership@memphisscholars.org) prior to the meeting to ensure a public comments section is added to the agenda.

  • A few teachers exited from the staff shifting responsibilities to others, all but one of those roles has now been filled.

Wins

  •  Numbers are down significantly when compared with every past year. 
  • Suspensions are down and culture is strong 

Challenges 

  • Remands were for serious infractions (gun clip brought to school, students threatening violence towards students and staff) that fall under the new zero-tolerance procedures. 
  • Limited space at alternative school has meant no placement for RE students, seats were reported as being full in December.

AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY

It's time for the annual board training, made available by Board on Track and completed asynchronously. Please let me know once you have completed the training, I will reach out to our representative at Board on Track, and she will prepare an official certificate. There are a number of on-demand sessions listed here. Since everyone is a returning board member, you just need to choose 4. If you will send me those 4 titles when you are done, we will get the docs prepared.

Budget 

The budget will be completed soon and sent to the board for an electronic vote, hoped to have it done in time for the March meeting but we just received some allocations from the district this week.
