Call the Meeting to Order
O. Gunday Heerma called a meeting of the Charter Excellence Committee Committee of Bridges Charter School to order on Friday Nov 8, 2019 at 1:54 PM.
On the motion of Cindy and 2nd Heather the agenda was approved.

The committee introduced themselves and Dr. Simon introduced the objective of this committee.
II. School Culture and Academic Excellence

Discussion about School Culture and Academic Excellence
The committee discussed various aspects of school culture and academic excellence.
Align writing assessments - s measurable - problem solving on all levels.
Learning styles - depth of knowledge?
Problem solve standard?
Common language for directions and norms
Something measurable tied to math journals? Rubric that's agreed upon per grade level per standards that document or dovetail as they are getting up in middle school - digitally?
Common rubric with grade level matrix -
Digital literacy test - state mandates that we teach digital literacy but they are not checking us on it.
Deficit in sub pops and K-2 - standards in K-1 could easily be facilitated in small groups
See what the mandates are and see what we can do to correct it
Check with teachers to see how they are checking
Does everyone in class get digital work? Can be as easy as a survey - can you ....save to flash drive - open word, can you keyboard, terminology, etc. - 2x year - Check how many hours in class are done on computer? How many projects?
Problem solving standard - team to come up with standards that align - I can statements?
Looking into integration of math skills
Make sense of problems an perseverance in problem solving
Conversation at PD to align report cards - how are we measuring and is it aligning with standards?
Likert scale? 1-5 how successful was this project for students? Will you use this project again next year?
x percent implemented successfully? and next year? percent this year and goal for next year? 80 percent successfully? 90?
Need to make goal for next year based on this year
Goal? 70 percent of our teachers will implement 2 projects - what went wrong and how do we improve for next year - implement rubric for next year

KS group summary - Looking at the WC perspective of finding ways to do 2 percent growth with healthy food survey

baseline measurment for toolbox to put into the report card
family integration - creating master calendar for the year - list and then community calendar - filling in gaps - ways to engage the community and find ways to make all feel welcome - find ways to increase attendance and involvement of sub pops - program comm? toolbox night? starting out with nights that we have curric nights and parent ed nights - raffles? Goal is to increase participation by 10%.

The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
