II. Education

A.

Kurt:

1) IA started today: good structure - looking at the raw data and habits of scholars; set up with Lavinia group; teacher to work on % of students on identifying main idea and genre + thinking
- Data: finishing up reading assessment (start of year); K&1 have a lot of work to do (guided reading with the consultants) with transferable skills; intellectual preparation goes into every
- Homogeneous groups on different reading levels; some 3rd graders are on K level reading (placed into special groups; close reading time)
- Trying to bridge some gaps during covid loss
- October focus: benchmarks (monthly) - how many students are completing main idea and are accurate - connects with renewals

2) Constance: % of 3rd graders not performing well?
Kurt: 8 students who are concerning as they are the lowest level
Ellen: What are levels of
Kurt: reading assessment (fluency / accuracy/ comprehension)-> equivalent for grade level

3) Attendance: some kids are dealing with travel / quarantine restrictions; currently lower average (k-12 are lower than 90%) - working with culture and college readiness teams
- Constance: what would the plan be for those students that need to catch up
- Kurt: obtaining baseline assessment and inform them of the new culture

4) Data dashboard: hope as soon as next month (partner with illuminate) to have live student data
- Today was the first day working with the platform -> achievement dashboard (board level data)
Malik: we can customize board level information

III. Other Business

A.

Malik:

Walk-through: 1st completed yesterday (there are 3 walk-throughs) - main 3 pillars - community of learning - intellectual preparation (some rigor levels not where we want to be and scholar learning)
Ellen: walk-through with the Pasek?
Malik: provided them with plans and they are more involved in the board
Ellen: what to improve on the 2nd and 3rd walk-through?
Malik: higher rigor and more scholar-based learning
