II. Education
A.
Test prep classroom (hybrid) demo
Teachers are supervising in real time on how students are progressing in classroom and on work at home w/ dashboards - structured and organized
ELA: thinking jobs for fiction and non-fiction and annotation - what's done on paper in class is transferable to digital. Focus on the content versus grammatical errors.
Math: both in class and online are digital and formative (similar to google docs)
Latoya on Data
Kurt: improvements grades 3-6 by 10%; 7-8 grade are slightly flatter, due to higher starting point; grade 3 has improved significantly; narrative around Covid and our constructive leadership
Malik: what we're doing would increase focus next year (YoY numbers next year)
Attendance:
- Overall k-8 flatlined at 89%-93%; number of students who were consistently absent is lower, but one-off absents are higher.
81% of family came into school for SAT
Mock math test has increased attendance
- Overall CPA: three assessments: algebra, ELA, living environment
Living environment is at 0% (9th grade); major drops in IA in algebra and living environment; attendance at pretty much in 60%-69%; emphasize on in person bc attendance may increase when in person, and remote discourages students to not attend
- SAT: 11th grade are nowhere; summer learning is an opportunity for sophomores and juniors - 100 lower than city, 200+ lower than state; trends: math is further behind than literacy (math is quicker to pick up)
Kurt will focus on the mock data and attendance and college metrics
College metrics:
- more acceptance trickling in
- 100% applications completed
- FAFSA in progress
- scholarship is a main focus
