Call the Meeting to Order
E. Chen called a meeting of the Education Committee of Nuasin Next Generation Charter School to order on Wednesday Sep 16, 2020 at 3:08 PM.

Approve Minutes
E. Chen made a motion to approve the minutes from Vote on summer school grading policy on 09-02-20.
J. Boulet seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

1) iReady (adaptive) is for all Tyra's grades - it's standardized
2) grade level breakdown to enter school next week - director of culture and staff
3) standardized assessment for 9th graders: makeup assessment starts next week (wrap up time in two weeks)
4) grade level and IA assessments have been created by teachers over the summer
5) Kurt, Tyra, and Karin will provide academic assessment calendar

Roadmap to drive towards charter goals for renewal year:
Kurt: working with Karin for goal setting (benchmarking), keeping goals similar as last year; when speaking with Laurie the authorizer, emphasized importance of IA
Karin: tracking graduating class and collecting data points
SpEd discussion with Liesl Hara - breaking down invisible barriers; cater RTI system and provide support

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 3:55 PM.

- first 3 weeks restoring mindset and safe environment for students: taking recommendations around how to manage this crisis
- building relationship with staff and students and setting up structure for academics
- attendance right under 90% (16 students registered w/ the school but are no-shows)- after roster adjustment, attendance will be higher
- 8AM-3PM schedules are working well with students; created initiatives (i.e. 3-4PM collaborative time- checking on individual scholars- culture blocks) to increase student and staff engagement
2) shift beginning of year benchmark assessment: decided not to give the NWEA assessment due to
- iReady: streamlining ELA and Math; starting baseline assessment on Friday (data will be available for October)
- reporting 3 times a year, and synced with online instruction for supplemental reports
- risks: NWEA has a larger nationwide participation; iReady is based in NY
