Remembering the Vision

Brett Lawson:
Closing out the school year
  • Instructors working with students to improve grades
  • Mailing out report cards
  • Planning for summer school programming
  • May 15th last day for students in Canvas
  • At 60% completion on canvas
  • MLK Happy Trails Graduation

Plans for next year and what it will look like.
  • Will move to a one-to-one model and every student will be provided a laptop for the up coming school year
  • Cares Act funding will aid us in implementation of a one to one model
Working through providing internet for families who don't have access
  • All teachers have been requested to prepare 3 weeks of work for our students

Theodore King:
  • Next town hall meeting is scheduled for May 25th
  • Wellness calls (approximately 1,618 games) where made to parents
    • Parents are still in need of assistance (food, clothes, bill assistance, etc.)

III. Academic Excellence

A.

Academic Excellence Committee Updates

Kimberly Adams:
No new developments in this area

IV. Finance

A.

Finance Committee Updates

Greg Thompson:

Cash Balance:
$1.94M in cash in the bank with $1.04M coming in from BEP payments in the next few days (~84 days of cash). Cash will decrease in May and July, which are months the organization does not receive BEP payments. Projected to end year with just over $2M in cash.
FCS applied for a forgivable loan from the SBA program (part of federal stimulus) through SunTrust / Truist. The allowable requested amount was $1.5M (based on average monthly payroll). Very likely that FCS will receive allocation which will be used for payroll costs over the next 3 months.

Enrollment and Staffing
• Enrollment ahead of budget projections (1,167 vs. 1,110).
• MLK – 575 • Westside – 326
• Humes - 266
