V. Council Member Feedback

A.

CAASPP Testing Feedback

Members discussed some of the difficulties they experienced during testing which included getting into some of the tests from personal computers, browsers not loading properly and dissatisfaction that test scores do not accurately reflect student learning.  It was mentioned that having school chromebooks made it much easier to take the test, and a suggestion was made that chromebooks for every student might assist in testing issues.

B.

Cultural Clubs

Members talked about the possibility of adding cultural clubs that could center on an individual  culture, especially for students who identify with a particular background or culture who may like a place where thy can meet others with shared experiences.  A suggestion was made that there could be one greater cultural club that encompassed many cultures, where students could come together not only to meet with others who shared their culture, but learn about all cultures together.  Members discussed how this could work by meeting separately, together, or a combination of both.  There was also talk about having clubs more suited for older students, as they tend to outgrow the clubs that are generally repeated each year.

Last minute comments included the importance of pushing test taking, difficulties with ordering materials, and general thanks to PAC members and school staff for their hard work this year.

The first meeting for the 24-25 school year is set for September 20th, 2024.  At that time, members will explore the option of meeting monthly instead of every other month and the possibility of creating an online forum or shared document to track ideas between meetings.
