2023-24 Planning Survey

Ms. Brenner shared the results of the Annual Planning survey that included questions about the LCAP goals.

We discussed how to increase participation in surveys. Some suggestions are:

-Email the survey in addition to posting in the MMU and in Parent Square

-In the email, let everyone know that the results of the survey will be shared and include links to the information in multiple languages.

-Offer a raffle for scholars who complete the survey

-Send out communications to club advisors promoting the survey by providing the link at their club meetings.

-Promote surveys in ParentSquare in a prominent place.

-Promote surveys in the Parent/Student portal

We also discussed how to provide more ways for scholars to connect online and in-person to share resources. Some ideas we discussed were:

-The Firebird Forum- an online discussion space for scholars. We need to identify a safe platform to use for this that is monitored by a staff member. This could be a Discord server or a Google classroom.

-In-person meetings at rented spaces in multiple communities.

Taia Saurer suggested adding an AI For All Club next year so scholars can explore AI and how it impacts their education.

We discussed scholar safety in an online forum and scholars asked if staff from the IT department could attend an SLC meeting to discuss cyber-safety. Zahra Grihma offered to have her mother as a special guest because she works in the field of cyber-security.
