Mission Moment

  • In January, our staff spoke to 8th grade students regarding their high school options. This was to raise awareness and help them with making a final high school decision.
    • Valeria has been at Enlace for 8 years and has been accepted to Providence Cristo Rey. She is looking forward to the work study program. Enlace helped her gain courage and to not be afraid to speak up. After high school she would like to pursue a veterinarian career.
    • Kimberly has been at Enlace for 2 years and has been accepted to Providence Cristo Rey. She is also looking forward to the work study program. She  likes that it is a catholic school as well. Ms. Hailey helped her gather schools that were good for her based on her personal interests. Enlace has challenged her to stand up for what she wants and she also played volleyball. She would like to pursue a dentistry career.
    • Maria has been at Enlace for 4 years and has been accepted to Cathedral High School. She chose Cathedral because they have a great academic program and business courses. The high school committee helped her see what the options were but also to speak up and gain confidence. She would like to pursue a career in business or entrepreneurship.
    • Nerio has been at Enlace for 5 years and he will be attending Shortridge High School. Enlace has helped him understand how things work outside of the school. He would like to pursue a career in soccer or law enforcement.

III. Finance

Finance updates

Brian reported on the April financials and that Enlace is in a strong financial position. This is due to being over in the investment revenue along with a new grant. Expenditures are over due to additional grant money however, there is a significant surplus. Received the Charter Capital grant of 451k in April deferred revenue and will be part of next year's budget. As far as the indicators, we have exceeded all the targets that OEI has given.

Legislative Update

  • HEA 1001-2023 required sharing of the incremental growth in local property tax dollars with charter school students starring in FY25 in Marion.
  • Enlace is a unique position and could be close to a wash. Enlace will most likely will not receive the transportation pass-through from IPS at renewal.

Jamie reported an update on the IPS Innovation

  • Jamie met with Brian Dickey, to talk about the pricing policy. The Kipp agreement went to the IPS board on the same day. There is a possibility that Enlace could also follow the same as the Kipp agreement at the end of the IPS agreement.
