Academic Updates

Mission Moment

Katie shared a summer update. In addition to summer school Enlace sent 15 students to Camp Ironwood. This was a new experience for our students and it was supported by the Mind Trust. The camp was 2 weeks in St. Louis.

Board Dashboard

Jamie shared the board dashboard to review the data that is available. Jamie gave a shoutout to Katie, Stephanie, Denise, and the Enlace Team as the dashboard shows all goals were met and are meeting goals all the way down. The progress every year for the last four years has been incredible.

  • The attendance goal of 95% was met.
  • The parent teacher conference attendance goal was surpassed as well.
  • 100% of parents that submitted the survey, stated that they are satisfied at Enlace.
  • Most of the new initiatives are tied to the Lilly grant. Such as the literacy work that Megan has been working on. She was part time and will now do that on a full time basis. Additional funding for food services, bringing back BGCI for our students, will offer a bilingual family therapist that works with students and their families.

Academic Update

iReady

  • Enlace almost met 80% growth. 72% of students met their goals.

iLearn proficiency

  • Rose on checkpoint in math and ELA. Significantly higher projections as compared to last year.

IRead Proficiency

  • iRead is a reading only assessment to 3rd graders or 4th graders that didn't meet proficiency. The goal was to meet a 10% growth and that goal was exceeded. Enlace is currently at pre-pandemic proficiency levels.

WIDA celebrations

  • Students can exit by either getting a score of 5 in WIDA. We had 27 meet that goal including a 1st grader.
  • Another way to exit the program is by getting a socre in between 4.3 to 4.9 and show proficiency on other metrics. It's extremely important for students to exit before they go to high school.

Students are socially present.

  • The belonging survey for students was distributed through Panorama. This survey is used to gage interventions. The survey results were high over the course of the year. Higher than they have ever been. This is attributed to many intentional efforts such as hosting clubs during the school day, college and career readiness, and middle schoolers having a choice in which specials they pick.

The Board discussed the school’s Opportunity Makers and the five components that support economic mobility. One key component is academic preparation. The discussion emphasized that improving academic outcomes requires intentional effort, adequate resources, and consistent implementation over time. The school has used strategic focus areas, including TNTP and trajectory work, to strengthen academic programming. Two years ago, the school reviewed and aligned curriculum maps with state standards and established clear, coherent, and unified priorities. The school also saw gains in IREAD and ILearn performance. Similar intentional efforts have been made to strengthen student belonging. MTSS implementation was also highlighted as an area of strength, with continued focus on ensuring student needs are being met. Looking ahead, the school will continue building consistency, supporting strong teaching practices, investing in co-teaching, and strengthening leadership support for grade-level instructional practices.

Jamie provided a brief update regarding changes to the state accountability system. The presentation included information shared by the state charter office and the Indiana Department of Education regarding key milestones and areas of focus. The Board discussed how the accountability system will be calculated, with proficiency serving as a foundation and student success indicators being calculated at the individual student level.

The Board discussed the school’s academic goals for the 2025–2026 school year. Based on the 2024–2025 results, the school earned a high C and is aiming to achieve a B in 2025–2026, while continuing to identify and implement the strategies necessary to establish a pathway toward an A rating.

IV. Finance

A.

May Financials

Brian Anderson reported that the May financial statements were provided to the Board. July financial statements will not be presented due to year-end closing activities, including the completion of accruals, fixed asset reporting, and Form 9 requirements. June financial statements will be finalized as part of the year-end close, and regular financial reporting for the new fiscal year will resume in September.

The school is currently meeting its financial targets, with no significant surprises reported. The temporary operating deficit is expected to be eliminated or the school is expected to break even from both a revenue and expenditure perspective. Overall, the school remains in a strong financial position. The Lilly cash is also being converted into assets through the cafeteria project.

Brandon Delk presented two requests from the Finance Committee. The first request was related to updates to the school’s financial policy in preparation for the opening of the new kitchen and the anticipated increase in administrative work, invoices, and credit card purchases.

  • The Finance Committee recommended the implementation of Ramp, a spend management platform that provides procurement, checking account, and credit card management capabilities within one system. The platform will assist the school with managing expenditures and receipts, provide additional documentation for audit purposes, verify purchases, and automate aspects of bookkeeping and expense tracking. The implementation is also intended to reduce the administrative burden on staff and strengthen controls to help prevent potential fraud.
  • The Finance Committee requested approval of updates to the financial policy to allow for the addition of Ramp credit cards and accounts.
M. Sciscoe made a motion to approve the presented financial policy updates to include ramp and the addition to Ramps credit cards and checking accounts.
J. Servaas seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
