Our academic instruction and chosen curricula across grade levels presumes an age-appropriate level of social-emotional readiness and stability. Our main challenges in delivering instruction with fidelity and appropriate pacing are rooted in the sharp decline or absence of these necessary skills.

In order to address these needs specifically in Academy B, we need to significantly strengthen the number of paraprofessionals and to be able to rely on their presence each and every day in every classroom.

An area of note in the Upper School (grades 5-8) is the challenge of appropriate pacing of academic instruction which is focused on circular/spiral instruction rather than mastery of topics or a combined hybrid approach. The amount of material that is expected to be covered and the needs of the students in recent years make this a frequent area of concern.
