Jessica Xiarhos called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee Committee of MCCPS Board of Trustees to order on Friday Nov 4, 2022 at 2:51 PM.

Approve Minutes from 08/26/22

Matt Cronin made a motion to approve the minutes from Academic Excellence Committee Meeting on 08-26-22.
Kimberly Sullivan seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

LiftLearning Presentation Debrief

How have we vetted this program?

  • How many schools using this resource?
  • Tech issues they have?
  • How established?
  • Will they last in the long run or is this just a start up that's going to "come and go"
  • Practically does it do what we need to do?
  • Specifics on how we connected with this program?

B.

Criteria Update from Departments

Humanities

  • did not meet this week due to 1/2 day
  • last week there was a great conversation around different units and sharing the units
  • We are working on plugging in Criteria for each unit for each grade level in the spreadsheet. 
  • Parking Lot for Criteria changes - changes to speaking/listening, executive functioning
    • Yearly Thoughtful Revision

Math/Science

  • 5th and 6th have presented Units
  • Using spreadsheet might help fill out section on Criteria in Unit plan

Student Led Conferences

  • Instructional Leadership Team (ILT)
  • Sturbridge Charter hosted a PD, attended by Matt & Molly. Sturbridge has shared some resources.
  • Staltonstall - student, parent, teacher - goal setting
  • ILP, MAP Goals, MyWay
  •

MCAS Board Presentation - Upcoming

MCAS Presentation from the State:

  • Broad strokes
  • Math slightly up state wide
  • ELA way down state wide
  • Chronic Absenteeism up %138
  • Cohorts changing school wide constantly

Peter to reach out to Joey Lee from Lift Learning re: other school we could speak to, demo to click around in, export work from Portfolio?
