Call the Meeting to Order
Jessica Xiarhos called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee Committee of MCCPS Board of Trustees to order on Friday Oct 22, 2021 at 2:47 PM.

Approve Minutes from 08/17/21
Matt Cronin made a motion to approve the minutes from Academic Excellence Committee Meeting on 08-17-21.
Ellen Lodgen seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
II. Academic Excellence Committee

Committee Goals for SY 21-22
1. MCAS Presentation to the Board (Nov.)
2. "Road Map" for the Criteria
- Using the committee strengths (parents) to help roll-out to/involve parents. Use parent perspective on committee
- Co-present Jessica's presentation to the Board with MCAS presentation to the Board to give an update on Academics at Charter. Committee there to act as a "panel" for Q&A. Share slides out for those who don't/can't attend
- Criteria and MCAS are not a one to one match - so much more that we value
- EdWeek article on MCAS
- Using MCAS for bigger takeaways. What is the data showing us this year?

Academic Excellence Committee "Road Map"
Key Criteria for the Year - Vertical Alignment (to be done in departments)
- Gathering Lab reports
- Writing samples
- Problem solving in Math
Centralized location for uploading Criteria on a template - Goal - Library
1. Identify the Criteria

3. Sharing practice around a particular criteria

2. Share current practices for Key Criteria
3. Creating a Library of Projects/Assignments/Assessments for Key Criteria with Vertical Alignment in mind
