Call the Meeting to Order

J. Brown called a meeting of the board of directors of MOXIE Public Schools to order on Friday Jul 24, 2026 at 1:05 PM.

Approve Minutes

M. Pouliot made a motion to approve the minutes from MOXIE PS Monthly Board Meeting on 06-12-26.
V. Hammonds seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

D.

Election of New Member: Cassy Burnham

M. Pouliot made a motion to elect Cassy Burnham to the MOXIE Public Schools board of directors.
M. Alaari seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Operational Updates

A.

Facility

Internal construction nearly complete. Fire and electrical inspections complete. Occupancy permit expected by August 10. 

B.

Development

Raised $1 million since May with CSGF and Barr Foundation.

Pending proposal with NSVF for $600k.

Submitted a proposal to Catalyze Challenge in July.

Received $10k from Kennebec Savings Bank to build makerspace.

Looking for funding for communications, advocacy, and technology. Opportunities available for local funders.

Seeking funding for purchasing and/or leasing busses and passenger vans.

All technology procured.

Nonprofit Operations

Insurance, HR, Accounting up and running.

D.

Student/Family Recruitment

116 enrolled. Still have a few slots (up to 130).

E.

Personnel and Staffing Updates

Teaching team starts August 10.

Hiring an assistant role for CEO. 

F.

School Operations Updates

Seeking approval for being a food service site.

Chair and CEO have been discussing a formal CEO contract.

 

III. New Business

A.

Community Engagement and Communications Planning- School Opening

Received a donation for signage.

Discussed a ribbon-cutting/open house event within the first two weeks of school year. Board members will assist with this.

Finance

CEO presented summary of end of fiscal year. 

$200k shifted into this fiscal year due to construction schedules.

Shifted to Flaherty Financial for accounting for this fiscal year.

Governance

The board selected August 21 as the board retreat date.
