IV. | Head of School Update
A. | School Closure Update
This is our DRAFT plan of what the 20-21 school year might look like. This is by no means complete, it is just being used to capture our current thinking based off of guidance as we receive it and the response of other states and countries.
B. | Board Resolution - OSPI Waiver of Instructional Hours and School Days
Every school board in the state of Washington must pass a resolution that acknowledges that they will not meet the 1027 instructional hour and 180 school day minimums. The resolution passed by the board acknowledges that the school has implemented a continuous distance learning model and will provide instruction and support to students through June 19, 2020.
(See packet for the OSPI generated waiver to approve)
C. | 20-21 School Calendar Approval
Board to vote on proposed 20-21 school calendar. SIA will begin school after Labor Day this year to allow additional time for facilities completion and move in. To accommodate for the later than normal start date, we will go to a ½ day conference schedule as opposed to the typical full days off for conferences. This calendar meets both the required 180 school days and 1027 instructional hours set forth by Washington state and has been reviewed by our admin team for approval.
