Call the Meeting to Order

J. Reilly called a meeting of the board of directors of KIPP Capital Region Public Charter Schools to order on Wednesday Jan 18, 2023 at 7:30 AM.

Approval of Minutes

K. Hohman made a motion to approve the minutes from KIPP Capital Region Board Meeting on 11-09-22.
K. Young Wilkins seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Mission Connection

A.

KIPP Forward Spotlight

Debra Garrett and Myles Clendenin presented on their work as KIPP Forward Alumni Support Managers. They discussed several recent highlights of their work including an 8th grade HVCC field trip, high school juniors and parents attended a Junior Summit at The College of Saint Rose, and rising first years were brought to HVCC to tour the school and review their schedules. A text campaign initiative to check in with alumni was also implemented. There was discussion of future plans and goals including a career coach program for KIPP alumni.

III. New Business

A.

Approve 2023-2024 Student Application and Admission Policies for KIPP Capital Region

Jon Thatcher provided an overview of the Admission Preference Policies and Lottery and the summary of changes to the application and admissions process.

R. Bellafiore made a motion to Approve 2023-2024 Student Application and Admission Policies for KIPP Capital Region.
D. Applyrs seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

IV. Executive Session

A.

For the purposes of discussing real estate and personnel matters

R. Bellafiore made a motion to Enter executive session for the purposes of discussing real estate and personnel matters.
D. Applyrs seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

V. New Business

A.

Real Estate

K. Hohman made a motion to expand Level Field Partner's Contract on a month-by-month basis to include financial planning and real estate work.
K. Young Wilkins seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

B.

Traffic Study

G. Alonge made a motion to authorize the CEO to solicit bids for and engage a consultant to complete a traffic study on the Northern Blvd Corridor.
R. Mexico seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

C.

Real Estate

G. Alonge made a motion to authorize the CEO to issue RFPs for design and construction services related to potential growth.
K. Hohman seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

VI. Discussion Topics

A.

KTVM Update

M. Wright presented a KTVM Update to discuss the KTVM relaunch including information on the key changes that were made as well as an overview of the ongoing work. 

VII. Management & Committee Reports

A.

Leadership Reports

S. Valle presented on the leadership report regarding school enrollment numbers, a summary of leadership team changes, and the regional team.

B.

Committee Reports

S. Valle presented on the development report on the list of events that board members may attend.

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 AM.
