Financial Report for Month of May, 2026
Under Business Services, Donna Morey provided the information for the monthly financial report in the board members’ agenda packets. There were no questions. Items of note were:
GENERAL FUND
General Fund revenues are tracking slightly ahead of expenditures in May as a result of the timing of tax collections. This is artificially inflating the fund balance, which will decrease slightly in the last few months of the fiscal year.
Special Ed expenditures exceed the fiscal year budget, primarily as a result of Special Education expenditures are currently exceeding budget projections. The variance is primarily attributable to staffing resources added during the year to support changing student needs and required services. The District has applied for Safety Net funding and anticipates reimbursement for a portion of these costs.
The third-quarter projection reflects an improvement in our year-end financial outlook. Projected revenues increased by approximately $578,000 (primarily from the State transportation allocation and food service revenue) and expenditures increased by approximately $221,000 resulting in a net improvement of roughly $357,000 when compared to the second-quarter forecast.
CAPITAL PROJECTS
Revenue in May consisted of property taxes, impact fees, and proceeds from the tree farm harvest.
Expenditures were for small projects, technology, and the costs related to the tree farm harvest. There was also the transfer of levy collections to the Debt Service Fund for the June principal payment on the 2022 LGO.
DEBT SERVICE FUND
In May, the transfers were made from the General Fund and Capital Projects (referenced above) for the June principal and interest payments on the 2022 LGO.
TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE FUND
There was no significant activity in the Transportation Vehicle Fund in May.
