Call the Meeting to Order
A. Collins called a meeting of the Academic Committee of Empower College Prep to order on Thursday Oct 20, 2016 at 5:05 PM.

II. Academic
A.
Discuss purpose of the academic committee
The committee discussed its purpose to provide oversight and ask critical questions related to developing and revising its academic program and monitoring progress toward short and long term goals.
B.
Vision for the academic program at all three levels (3-5, 6-8, 9-12)
The committee used this time to discuss the vision for all of Empower schools as it was written in the board approved strategic plan.
C.
Academic Measures and Reporting to Board
A. Collins expressed the need for this committee to have valid and reliable ways to assess academic progress and be able to present it to the board in meaningful and understandable formats.

Next Steps
A. Collins reminded the committee that our next committee meeting will be on November 1st and all other meetings will continue the first Tuesday of each month unless otherwise communicated.
