  A. Executive Director Report and COVID Update

The Executive Director will share major events and developments since the last Board meeting, including graduation, staffing, and enrollment. The majority of this time will focus on the school's preparation for the new school year in light of COVID-19.

Board members will have the opportunity to ask questions and share recommendations during this time.

III. Voting Items
  A. Approve Updated School Calendar

Empower College Prep's calendar includes 186 school days, which is consistent with its charter contract and 6 days more than is required by the state. The Arizona State Board for Charter Schools is allowing schools to adjust their calendar without any action being taken by the ASBCS as long as they meet the state requirement of 180 days.

Empower College Prep's updated school calendar includes a week of orienting students and families to the digital learning experience August 3rd - 7th. Classes will begin August 10th. The result has no impact on staff contracts, includes 181 days in the school's calendar, and the date the school is required to drop students who have not attended is extended to August 24th instead of August 17th.
  B. Approve Adopted FY21 State Budget
  C. Approve FY21 Bus Contract

The school's management team has negotiated an agreeable contract that has been reviewed by the school's legal counsel. The Board will have the opportunity to approve the bus contract.

The attached Board Calendar for FY21 provides the dates the school's management team will report progress on school goals, as well as a timeline for the Board to consider strategic topics throughout the upcoming year.
