B. Perlado made a motion to approve the Appointment of Marisela (Mari) Canales as Board Member.

D. Barreto seconded the motion.

Marisela (Mari) Canales is a resident of Lost Hills and an engaged parent of two WCPA-Lost Hills students, she is actively involved in their education. If approved, she will take office on March 25, 2025.

A. Information Item: Academic Update on Common Formative Assessment (CFA) Results

Chief Academic Officer Megan Palomo provided an academic update, focusing on Common Formative Assessment (CFA) Results.

B. Action Item: Approval of Vendor Invoices for 2025/26 Literacy Curriculum for Elementary (McGraw Hill LLC) - Delano and Lost Hills

D. Barreto made a motion to approve the vendor invoices for 2025/26 Literacy Curriculum for Elementary (McGraw Hill LLC).

E. Zamora seconded the motion.

WCPA plans to transition from Wit & Wisdom to Wonders 2023 to better align with the Science of Reading and enhance foundational skills instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and writing. The academy seeks approval for literacy curriculum invoices from McGraw Hill LLC totaling $450,187.40 for Delano and Lost Hills, with costs allocated over four years.

A. Information Item: Review of Monthly Business Report for February 2025 - Delano

Chief Business Officer, Mike Romero presented the updated monthly business report for the Delano Campus.

B. Information Item: Review of Monthly Business Report for February 2025 - Lost Hills

Chief Business Officer, Mike Romero presented the updated monthly business report for the Lost Hills Campus.

C. Action Item: Approval of J-13A Attendance Recovery Form - Delano

E. Unruh made a motion to approve the J-13A Attendance Recovery Form - Delano.

D. Barreto seconded the motion.

WCPA seeks approval for its J-13A submission to account for a material decrease in Average Daily Attendance (ADA) from December 3-5, 2024. Approval from the California Department of Education would allow WCPA to recoup 339.95 ADA without incurring a fiscal penalty under the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF).

D. Action Item: Authorization for the Chief Business Officer to Negotiate Agreement between CFOMW Tax LLC and Wonderful College Prep Academy for Employee Retention Credit

D. Barreto made a motion to authorize the Chief Business Officer to Negotiate Agreement between CFOMW Tax LLC and Wonderful College Prep Academy for Employee Retention Credit.

E. Zamora seconded the motion.

WCPA is exploring eligibility for the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERC), which provides direct payments for qualifying organizations. After consulting a tax attorney experienced with schools nationwide, WCPA believes it may qualify under the expanded eligibility criteria related to government-ordered operational suspensions. The potential financial recovery of $2.5–$3 million outweighs the service costs, with tax attorney Michael Williams, CFOMW, proposed to assist in the process.
