Benedict (Ben) Perlado is the Director of Transfer Pathways, International Student Services, and Student Success Technology at Bakersfield College, a dual-enrollment partner of Wonderful College Prep Academy. Previously, he held leadership roles at CSU Bakersfield in admissions and enrollment.

This MOU allows WCPA – Lost Hills to request Concurrent/Dual Enrollment courses from Taft College under a CCAP agreement with Kern Community College District (KCCD). Effective from January 1 to June 30, 2025, it covers one academic semester with the option for renewal by mutual agreement.

In November 1988, California voters passed Proposition 98 ensuring stable funding for California public schools. In return, all public schools must prepare and share annual School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs) to inform the public about their progress and achievements.

As a public agency under the Political Reform Act, Wonderful College Prep Academy must adopt a Conflict of Interest Code for its board, employees, and certain consultants. In response to a request from the Kern County Board of Supervisors, the Code is being updated to align Form 700 filing practices with other Kern County schools and to reflect job title changes. Once approved by the Board, it will be submitted to the County Board of Supervisors and the Superintendent of Schools.

Assembly Bill 699 requires all California public schools, including charter schools, to adopt policies limiting immigration enforcement assistance and ensuring safe, accessible learning environments for all students. In compliance with this law, WCPA is adopting an Immigration Enforcement Policy to protect student rights, support families, and align with the California Attorney General’s guidance issued in December 2024.

The Academy seeks approval of the 2025-2026 Academic Calendar, with the school year running from August 4, 2025, to June 5, 2026, totaling 180 instructional days. Teacher orientation and professional development will occur before and throughout the year. The calendar aligns with local schools and Bakersfield College’s schedule.
