Public Comment Procedures

By law, the Board is only allowed to discuss or take action on items listed on the agenda. The Board may, at its discretion, refer a matter to KIPP SoCal management or add the issue to a future meeting agenda for discussion.

Individual speakers will be invited to address the Board for up to three minutes. Speakers may have less time depending on the number of individuals who express interest in addressing the Board. Please respect the time limit allotted to each speaker. The meeting host will indicate a speaker’s time has expired and invite the next speaker to begin.

K. Salyer and B. Sanchez provided updates on KIPP SoCal including highlights, charter renewal update and enrollment updates with a focus on KIPP Adelante.

Compliance Monitoring and Board Compliance for LAUSD-Authorized Schools

R. Bishop made a motion to Authorize Board President Luis Rodriguez to sign the Compliance Monitoring and Certification of Board Compliance Review for the schools listed below.
J. Miller seconded the motion.

Material Revision to KIPP Corazón Academy’s Charter to Add a Facility at 6348 Seville Avenue

J. Miller made a motion to Authorize KIPP SoCal to seek a material revision to KIPP Corazón Academy’s charter that will add 6348 Seville Avenue, Huntington Park, CA 90255 as a facility for its TK students.
J. Berg seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

Material Revision to KIPP Los Angeles College Preparatory’s Charter to Add a Facility at 2942 Whittier Boulevard

R. Bishop made a motion to Authorize KIPP SoCal to seek a material revision to KIPP Los Angeles College Preparatory’s charter that will add 2942 Whittier Boulevard as a facility for administrative staff.
J. Berg seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

VI. Finance

A.

Approval of the revised 2024-25 budget for KIPP SoCal Public Schools

M. Carlisle made a motion to Approve the revised 2024-25 budget for KIPP SoCal Public Schools.
J. Miller seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

B.

FY25 1st Interim Financial Reports

J. Berg made a motion to Acknowledge the receipt of the FY 2024-25 1st Interim Reports for the above mentioned schools as well as the opportunity to discuss the reports and financial results with KIPP SoCal management.
R. Bishop seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

C.

Audit of the consolidated financial statements of KIPP SoCal Public Schools for FY2024

R. Bishop made a motion to Approve and accept the attached audit of the consolidated financial statements of KIPP SoCal Public Schools for FY 2023-24.
J. Miller seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

VII. Real Estate

A.

Property acquisition of 2300 E Florence Ave, Huntington Park, CA 90255

N. Arastu made a motion to Authorize KIPP SoCal Public Schools to extend the property purchase contingency period until all due diligence is satisfactorily complete and LAUSD has granted KCCP’s increase in enrollment. Authorize the release of a portion of the earnest money deposit to the Seller, if required, as consideration to extend. Authorize KLARE to close the property acquisition if LAUSD approves KCCP’s proposed material revision to increase enrollment. This would be anticipated in February 2025.
J. Berg seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.
