MTSS
Susan Schuh presented an overview of the district's MTSS (multi-tiered system of supports) model.
MTSS is a framework to identify students who are not achieving at benchmark levels and to use data to inform decisions about what supports will help them reach expected performance. The current framework includes academics and social/emotional health, including the following tiers:
Tier 1: Universal Support, core instruction/all students
Tier 2: Targeted support, small groups
Tier 3: Intensive support, individual or small group
There are 4 stages of implementation:
Exploration
Installation
Initial Implementation
Full Implementation
Bridgeport Elementary is currently in the initial implementation phase, while the middle and high school buildings are at the exploration stage.
Full implementation will be required district-wide in the 2028 school year.

Bridgeport Elementary Board Report - Jesse Macy
Cultivate data-driven decision making as the seed for future student growth:
We are starting to look into ways that we can improve our supports for our MLL students, specifically in math, for the next school year. Our WSIF data shows that is an area that we aren’t experiencing growth in. We will look at a variety of strategies leading into the development of our School Improvement Plan and choose and implement the 1-3 that we feel with have the highest impact.
Offer and cultivate rigorous and relevant learning opportunities:
Math night was very successful. We had 65 parents and 89 students in attendance. Students ranged from grades TK to 5th. There were multiple middle school AVID students that helped during it. All students were able to take a Family Game pack home with them at the end of the event.
Ripen strong community partnerships: I would like to take a moment and thank and recognize the high school’s Be Kind club. For multiple years now, the high school students that are a part of this club come over about once a week and spend time with elementary students. The students they are with were identified by their teachers as ones that would benefit from extra support and attention. The selected students really enjoy this, and I have seen them flourish as a result.
Employ a school culture where every student is respected, safe and academically challenged: Grade level teams recently met with Emily Bushouse from the ESD to look over discipline data and discuss what they are noticing with it. There was a lot of good insight provided, and there were some excellent recommendations around how we can adjust what is being done to better help the students. There were great insights provided around ways to better support all staff during recess times.
