B.

Monthly Report

Modesto shared the excitement of having a basketball team playing in uniform and the anticipation of a teacher/ student game coming up.

COVID cases continue to drop and the school will take steps soon to allow more students into the cafeteria for a single seating, creating a more communal atmosphere.

There has been good progress in preparation for staffing next year. LACS is adding a Dean of STEM to the administration. Conversations about next year with current staff are happening this month. Offer letters will go out in March. This is an accelerated timeline from previous years to create stronger continuity and address staffing needs earlier. LACS has recently hired 4 internally into new roles and made 2 external hires as well.

Attendance in January ended at 90%- huge effort with Omicron complications. LACS is at 93% for the year, behind the goal of 95% set for the year. Administration continues to hustle to keep kids and families accountable, get students back to school and have students tap into buyback days.

GPA in the Upper Academy is a focus, as LACS strives to get more kids to a 3.0 or above. Some of the work is making students aware of how significant a role GPA plays in college admissions.

ANET- recent returns showed LACS in good standing with the network, coming out ahead by a few percent in ELA and Math in 6 and 8th Grade. 7th grade was a bit behind. LACS lags behind Springfield Prep, who begin work with their students in elementary grades. LACS will use the data to strive for continued improvement with each testing opportunity.
