Committee Update
Chair Givens shared the work of the Governance committee. We have engaged Boardlead for an additional Spring round of potential candidates. She shared that our two new Trustees, Simone and Vishal, were interested in joining the Development Committee and Governance Committees respectively. A number of trustees were interested in rejoining the Development committee with a focus on our expansion.
Trustee Sciame suggested that we should share the history of the school and engage in dialogue about the school's philosophy, charter framework and experience for our newly joined Trustees.

Finance Committee Update
CFO Brown presented the overview of the work of the Finance Committee. She shared the work of the enrollment team following the lottery and its positive impact on the budget. She described the positive impact of the growth of BSNBCS's additional 2nd grade, growing to K-2 and BSNBCS's expansion of its high school to include a second cohort, including grade 10.
CAO Brown described the school's marketing and recruitment work to support student recruitment including bus adds, radio and TV, direct mail, electronic messaging and in-person canvassing. There were no extraordinary expenses during this time period.
Executive Director Tishuk presented the school's experience with the new policy enviroment in Washington, DC and potential impacts on the finances of the school. Trustees engaged the topic and asked that they remain informed on the topic.
Principal Garcia presented on the school's return from Spring Break; our New York State assessments for ELA were successful despite the challenges New York State had in their implementation of the new Computer Based Testing framework. Math exams will be taking place in early May and regents exams in June to complete our 2024-25 student assessments.
CAO Brown discussed the upcoming Mother's Day events, our Boys and Girls summits which are well attended and supported by our community partnerships. The Career Day event is in June 3rd and the board is encouraged to attend or share with their networks. Trustees are encouraged to attend if they are interested. 8th grade stepping up will be at Medgar Evers College.
