Committee Chair updated the Board on its recruitment efforts. She acknowleged the presence of Vishal Gupta, who we connected with through boardlead.com and Simone Pratt, who is a community member. Both are eager to learn more about the school and its growth strategy.
IV. Finance Committee

Finance Committee Update
Treasurer Shawn Carson updated the Board on the work of the finance committee. CFO Lisa-Renee Brown updated the Board on the school's general education and special education enrollment, which remains steady. The school has no unusual expenses in the recent period and continues to maintain a healthy balance.
Executive Director Nicholas Tishuk and the Board also discussed the planning of an event in the Spring at the High School celebrating and honoring the legacy of long-time friend of the school from its inception, Dirk Tillotson. Trustees are invited to participate in the discussions and planning around this event.

Committee Chair Cecelia Russo updated the Board on the work of the Academic and Family Life committee. She acknowledged the work of the school in working with immigrant community and families, as well as the school's academic progress.
CAO Patience Brown updated the Board on the recent family townhall which had over 100+ families and the school's engagement and communication with our family. Our middle school and high schools are having their Valentine's Dances at both campuses and midwinter Recess begins next week.For Families who would like additional academic work, we are holding Brain Camp over midwinter recess, which will include academic and enrichment activites.
HS Principal Brian Blough updated the board on our 9th grade enrollment and new students who recently joined the high school. He has been working closely with local middle schools to provide access to interested 8th graders who would like to join the school in 2025-26. We recently hosted a double-dutch tournement at the panther community space; and we are actively. Additional e-sports and Girls That Code events are planned for March. Chair Cecelia Russo encouraged all trustees to visit the school's website.
Board Chair Victor Rivera commended the school staff on the students' progress in reading and math, referencing the recent release of NAEP scores and the challenges the nationwide K-12 education sector is seeing in the post-COVID era.
