Call the Meeting to Order

Kevin Nesbitt called a meeting of the board of trustees of Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter Schools to order on Wednesday Dec 17, 2025 at 6:15 PM.

Approve November Meeting Minutes

John Matos made a motion to approve the minutes from Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter Schools Board Meeting on 11-19-25.
Victor Rivera seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Academic and Family Life Committee

A.

Committee Update

EXD Tishuk referred the Board to the Committee notes.  Committee Chair Cecelia Russo congratulated HS Principal Brian Blough on his recent conferral of a Doctoral Degree from Forham University. She noted that CAO Brown and Principal Garcia are also in PhD programs.

III. Finance Committee

Finance Committee Update

Treasurer John Matos updated the Board on the work of the Finance Committee. Chief Operating Officer Michael Taylor updated the Board on the recent financials of the school. There were no extraordinary expenses and there are currently 1029 enrolled students in Grades K-10.  He shared that the P4 monies will be received in late December/early January and we expect the federal IDEA funds in January.  Mr. Tishuk shared with the Board several philanthropic efforts to support the school's operations.

Public comments

There were no public comments. Chair Kevin noted the great program for our elementary and middle school students celebrating the holiday season. He also expressed his excitement of engaging BSNBCS students with our higher education partners at St. John's University and St. Thomas Aquinas College.
