The grading policy was developed last month.  Since then, we identified the students who were in jeopardy (about 50%).  Mailed home packets in content areas.  Due May 29th.  We are ending school early by a week to deal with grading.  For some, the student has not done anything.  Others are inconsistent - they do some work but still have F's.  The failure rate is really high.  Teachers are not going to be doing any new content instruction for next 2 weeks.  There will be 1-1 conferencing with the students who have Not Yet's in classes, going through the packets with those students, and encouraging students coming to office hours.

Maggie - this is an example of why in-person school works.  There is so much that connects student success with the factors of school.

Strategies to help bring up failure rate:

1. Having passing students buddy up (via advisory) to help students who have not yet's
2. Teachers will go through packets during class time.  No new content.
3. Really trying to have people use office hours.

Need to look at data to really examine EL and IEP students.

What about offering an alternative assignment that asks students reflect deeply on how they have been using GOLD skills?  
We will do this after 5/29 for students who have Not Yet's
