Academic Data

Amy shares recent academic data with the committee.

Attendance:

Internal goal: 90%

The beginning of the year was the most challenging as well as May. A lot of this was still related to COVID and COVID protocols but we are getting back to where we want to be. Attendance interventions were difficult to implement this year again due to COVID protocols but we have worked to get back into the 90s and we have a plan moving forward. The state is most concerned about chronic absenteeism. Normally it is 10% of the school year missed but they have raised it to 20% this year due to COVID. We have 44 students this year who are considered "chronically absent".

Rebecca asks about teacher absence?

Amy says it has been challenging. For various reasons, we've seen a lot of absence with teachers, often correlating with student absenteeism as well as COVID-related issues.

Professional Development for teachers - Teachers answer survey question: Has professional development helped you be a better/more effective teacher?

Goal: 90% of teachers respond yes to this question.

Right now we don't have all of our end of year surveys completed but out of those we do have, it is around 80%.

Behavior:

Referrals are higher than we were pre-pandemic. Last year, not being in school, this data point was N/A. There were spikes throughout the year. Our culture team had to spend a lot of their time this year being reactive rather than being able to be proactive and focus on some of our great incentives like "Rockstar Monday". Amy mentions that better teacher training, getting the culture team to be more proactive in classrooms and a new position for a Tiered Interventionist are part of the plan to help this number go down for next year.

Data analysis in its true form and using the results of that analysis to inform decisions moving forward is something we are working on getting better at. We have a lot of data but we have thought about hiring someone to take all of this information and use it to make recommendation to improve, refine, and remodel processes, procedures and policies as needed. (Open Architects).

MCAS Data:

In comparison to the state, we're not beating them in any areas.  We are coming close in some areas and not so close in others. Currently, we only have raw data for ELA.

ELA intervention data is looking very promising. Amy feels confident we will get kids to meeting or exceeding the goals and we have a plan to get there.
